Jake is one our Story of Care Ambassadors. He is a care-leaver and has written No Matter Where I Go, I’ll Always Find My Way Home as part of our #RealStoriesOfCare series. It is the result of a series of 1-2-1 workshops. This marks the first part of a series of reflections on the LGBTQIA+ care experience. Here is what he has to say about the piece:

I’m writing a book around the LGBTQ+ community of children and young people in care and mental health.

I’m an ambassador for mental health and I am involved in a lot for the LGBTQIA+ community and with my own personal experiences of both being in care I wanted to help children and young people who may be experiencing this. I want them to know they’re not alone and how to get help with what they’re going through.

I’ve found the process very challenging in a good way, with my own experiences and knowing people who have gone through this but I love knowing that I get to make a difference in people’s lives and help them for the better.
