The Story of Care Ambassador programme was a platform for care-experienced young people, aged 16-24, to share their thoughts, feelings, insights and innovations about the care system and society. The Ambassadors created content for this website and Coram’s #RealStoriesOfCare social media campaign. They produced blogs, poetry, videos, photographs, spoken word, and a podcast.

The Ambassadors documented their day-to-day experiences, responded to news stories, and delved into the history of the Foundling Hospital, Britain’s first children’s home. Their creative pieces contribute to a commentary on the care system – as it is now, and as it was at the Foundling Hospital.

“From my time spent as one of Coram’s Story of Care Ambassadors, I have been made to feel not only that my voice matters, but that I am an integral part of something bigger than just myself.” – Story of Care Ambassador

The Ambassadors were part of Coram’s Voices Through Time: The Story of Care programme, made possible by the National Lottery Heritage Fund. The first cohort of Ambassadors worked with the Voices Through Time team in 2021/22 and the second cohort in 2023/24.
