Join us for an evening of discussion and celebration to mark the unveiling of Echoes of Care: The Living History of Coram and the Foundling Hospital, an immersive art installation exploring the past and present of the care system. This event is part of the Bloomsbury Festival programme.

This free event will end with a large-scale projection on the façade of Coram. Echoes of Care is an immersive, site-specific, audio-visual artwork. It asks pertinent, timeless questions about the care system by interweaving stories from the Foundling Hospital – Britain’s first children’s home – with multi-media contributions from contemporary young people in care.

The event will include a panel discussion with the artists, young people, and experts on the care system; a drinks reception; and a chance to view the immersive artwork before the outdoor projection. The installation is also open on weekdays throughout the Bloomsbury Festival. From 1741 to 1954, the Foundling Hospital supported 27,000 children, offering them security from birth until the age of 21. Coram continues this work, supporting children who are unable to live with their families, creating better chances for children.

This immersive artwork was made possible by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, which supported the digitisation of Coram’s Foundling Hospital Archive.
