Coram’s play Echoes Through Time: The Story of Care centres on a group of young people navigating between the modern care system and the historic Foundling Hospital. It explores resonances and differences between life in care today and the lives of real children who grew up at the Hospital in the 18th and 19th centuries.
The script of Echoes Through Time is free to download below. Coram encourages schools, youth groups, community groups, and theatre companies to stage their own productions and introduce new audiences to this story. The play is for a company of performers aged 14 to 24 and suitable for audiences aged 14+. This digital resource pack is designed to support schools and others to learn about the care system, past and present.
Writer Brian Mullin created the script in collaboration with a group of care-experienced young people in autumn 2023. A new group of care-experienced young people performed the premiere of the play, directed by Vicky Moran, to a sold-out audience at Hoxton Hall, London, on 4 April 2024. Echoes Through Time: The Story of Care was part of the Voices Through Time: The Story of Care programme, made possible by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
