Work with a professional filmmaker to make your own poetic short film.
Over 6 weeks, you will write a piece of spoken word, and shoot a film to accompany it. Your film will feature in the No Colours for my Coat exhibition launching at Coram in April 2025.
You will respond to the work of Paul Yusuf, an artist who documented his experience of growing up in care in the 1960s and 70s. Using poetry and paintings, Yusuf articulated his feelings through everyday objects: barcodes, balloons, masks and clothing tags.
Using Yusuf’s work as inspiration, you will reflect on the people, places and things that make you… you. Starting from there, you’ll be supported to unleash your creativity. Yusuf’s work was political, and your film might convey a big message too. But it might be playful and silly. Nonetheless, the workshops will be warm, supportive and – most of all – FUN. Please join us!
Your travel expenses to and from each workshop will be reimbursed, and food will be provided. The project is open to people based in London.
