We are looking for care experienced young people aged 18-25 to join us for our next exciting project for Voices Through Time.
The project, A Stitch in Time, will explore the history of the Foundling Hospital through textiles.
Through looking into the daily routine of the Foundling Hospital pupils from 1739 onwards you will get the opportunity to journey through the past, exploring how the history of care resonates with you and the care of the present.
In this project you will learn how to use a variety of textile techniques and craftivism, to create your own individual samplers (a piece of different types of sewing and textile craft). You’ll get to use slogans and imagery to have your say on what could be changed for the future.
When pieced together, the individual samplers will become a whole narrative blanket to be exhibited at the Foundling Museum and other museums nationally.
This project is in partnership with the Foundling Museum and will be run by artist and activist Nicole Harris.
Dates: 16 October – 20 November 2021
Time: Saturday afternoons 12-2.30
Location: Foundling Museum and the Coram Campus in Brunswick Square, London WC1
Food will be provided!
We will have an introduction meeting over Zoom on Wednesday 6 October at 6pm to explore and decided the focus and themes of the project.
